Last week I spent a few days on Ocracoke Island, staring at a small pile of shells and wondering what kind of creative project I could make with them.
Nothing was coming to me.
Later that day, my aunt who lives at the beach during the summer showed me something she’d been working on for the local arts and crafts fair.
She’d drawn outlines of all kinds of trees and plants… and pasted shells in place for the leaves, flowers and fruit. It was simple, clever, and exactly the type of project I was looking for.
It reminded me that fresh perspective can turn the familiar into something completely new. Whether it’s shells, a business challenge, or a brand you’ve looked at a thousand times, sometimes the breakthrough comes from seeing it through someone else’s eyes.
This weekend, I hope you stumble on a little inspiration hiding in plain sight and maybe turn your own “pile of shells” into something wonderful.
